How to choose RC Plane Radio components

I have been out is RC Airplanes for 20 years and wish to get back into the hobby. I understand the concept of the new systems frequency hopping.

That said, how do I match receivers, flight batteries, and serves? How do I know what size battery to choose! What servo is right for my aircraft.

In years past we bought a radio kit with everything including. Now I don’t know what to buy or how to size a servo for my airplane.

There’s nothing out there that will walk a new person through the selection process. This seems strange to me.
What do you recommend?
